Job search tip of the week

Some freelance job posts really take off. You’ve likely seen them…they’re the ones with hundreds of likes. But that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. If a job is a great fit for you but has a ton of responses, I’d encourage you to do three things.

  1. Apply in the way they ask. Throw your hat in the ring. Some posts get loads of responses, but many of those clients report getting just a handful of qualified applicants.

  2. Respond on the post. It can help raise awareness of what you do to others on the platform (say hello to more referrals).

  3. Add the client’s name, company, and contact information into a spreadsheet. Why? Because now you know they hire freelance writers and you know what they’re looking for. If you don’t get a response the first time around (when they’re inundated), follow up with a very targeted message in a few weeks!
